Alexandria - Funeral service for Mr. James Kenneth Fields, 76, will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Donnie Sills and Rev. Buddy Nelson will be officiating. Burial will follow the service in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Fields went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Fields of Alexandria; his son, Kevin Fields and his wife Yvonne of Birmingham; one grandson, Joe Huffman of Birmingham; one great-granddaughter, Khloe Huffman of Birmingham; five nephews, Terry Fields, Doug Smith, Bart Smith, Greg Smith, and Chad Miller; and special friends, Peggy and Everett Martin. Mr. Fields was preceded in death by his parents, George William Fields and Myrtie Lee Brasher Fields; and one brother, William Fields. Mr. Fields was an avid member of Anniston First Baptist at McClellan where he enjoyed being a door greeter for many years. He loved meeting people and enjoyed bringing a smile to their face. Mr. Fields was also active in the Goggans Sunday School Class and helped with a respite program at the church as well. He was a faithful servant of Christ, an excellent provider for his family, and a loyal and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time outdoors, where he would hunt and fish and take every opportunity to mentor and teach young people how to also hunt and fish. Mr. Fields also was an Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America and worked at the Anniston Army Depot for 30 years, where he retired as an Electronic Fire Control Supervisor.
